Many of the rafting excursions include transportation between San Jose or Arenal and Puerto Viejo, so it's like it's free to take a ride from/to Puerto Viejo! Your luggage will be safe during the whole excursion, you can enjoy your day on the river.

The Pacuare River is known worldwide for its scenic beauty flanked by its green canyons bathed on both sides by its lush waterfalls. Within its abundant flora and fauna you will find: lazy bears, toucans, parakeets, coatis, a colorful fan of butterflies and frogs, not leaving out its exciting crystalline waters that makes it an unforgettable adventure trip.
Rafting
It is the most important area in the entire western half of the Caribbean for green turtle nesting. Other species of sea turtles that also lay their eggs on the beach are the leatherback and hawksbill turtles, which are crossed by a natural system of lagoons and navigable channels of great scenic beauty and are the habitat of species of land turtles, manatees, sea cows, crocodiles, a great diversity of crustaceans and some 52 species of freshwater fish, including the gaspar fish.

The fauna is very rich in diversity in this area. We can identify tapir, jaguar, congoes, coatis, raccoons, fishing bats, poison frogs, etc. Many species of protected birds can also be found in the area. Tortuguero is the most important place in the western Caribbean for the nesting of the endangered green turtle (Chelonia Midas)".
